JERSEY BOYS PODCAST #030 - Christy & Steve Review Jersey Boys Tour San Francisco Preview

The Jersey Boys Podcast #030 recorded for Sunday, December 10, 2006 has been posted.

Sorry this took so long to get out.

This podcast is focused on Christy and Steve's thoughts about seeing the Jersey Boys Tour's last preview performance before opening night in San Francisco at the Curran Theatre on Saturday, December 9, 2006.

Thanks to John Lloyd Young for calling in to our listener line at 206-984-3836 and leaving us that introduction at the beginning.  Following John's introduction is an actual Air Force commercial recorded by Bob Gaudio.  Thanks much to our special friend of the podcast who sent that our direction.

Another special honor is the ability to play a short preview of "Come si Bella" by Tommy DeVito in this podcast.  Please check out the link to learn more.

At the very end of the podcast, we add on Part 2 of 2 of a recent radio interview with Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio from Ron Owens' KGO 810 radio program.

Song segments played in this podcast thanks to Rhino Records and Jersey Boys Broadway include:

Jersey Boys Tour Opening Night Reflections

The Jersey Boys Tour opening night in San Francisco was on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 and it was an amazing experience. Christy and I had an extremely fun time, and we really appreciate all the kind words of encouragement from podcast listeners that we met.

The open night performance was very good. The cast was on fire, the band was rocking, and everyone did an amazingly top notched job.  The crowd was extremely enthusiastic and supportive.  It was also extremely cool at the end of the show to see the full cast on stage with Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Bob Crewe.

From what I've been able to tell from the reviews, the critics enjoyed it also: MercuryNews, Examiner.com, TalkingBroadway, TheaterMania, ContraCostaTimes, InsideTheBayArea, and San Franciso Chronicle, Several bloggers have also done some must read posts here: Eric Gutman, brooklynknitchick, EmilyStyle, LoveToEatandTravel, & Jersey Boys Blog.

From a super fan's perspective I can safely say that you will not be disappointed seeing this tour production in San Francisco (extension coming?!?), Los Angeles, Chicago, and places yet-to-be-announced.

Christy and I have recorded our review of the show and the wonderful Cast Party afterwards.  We also got a last minute interview with Bob Gaudio and Frankie Valli that we recorded before dashing off to catch our plane flight back to San Diego on Monday afternoon.

We will be posting both our 'last night of previews' podcast (preview blog post) and our 'open night' podcast ASAP.

Jersey Boys Podcast #017 - Review of the Broadyway Show and Interview with J. Robert Spencer

Today we are posting (Jersey Boys Podcast #17 for Friday, April 28, 2006) the second of our in-person interviews that my wife Christy and I recently recorded during our fabulous trip New York City in early April 2006. But before we get to the interview we play our personal "review" of Jersey Boys Broadway, and then the interview with J. Robert Spencer who plays Nick Massi in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys (he also played the same role in the La Jolla Playhouse production).

Make sure you listen all the way through and learn about our upcoming fan give-a-way contest that will end on May 5, 2006. Key clue: Get on the Jersey Boys Podcast Frappr Map!

Questions asked to J. Robert Spencer: What is your favorite thing about Jersey Boys?  What is the difference between playing La Jolla vice New York City?  How is New York City treating you? This is your second Broadway show, what was your first? What is it like to play Nick Massi? Do you have a "extreme" fan story?
